This whole home remodel in Lebanon, Ohio, brought new life to a historic home while preserving its timeless charm. Every room tells its own story, blending rich character with refreshed functionality and design. The result is a home that feels both storybook and sophisticated, where every space reflects thoughtful craftsmanship and artistry.
In the kitchen, deep blue cabinetry, warm wood trim, and brass accents create a rich, inviting palette. A bold patterned backsplash and dark stone countertops add contrast and depth, while the ceiling’s intricate gold detailing adds a touch of elegance that ties the space together.
The bathrooms continue the home’s distinctive personality—each with its own unique flair. One features a floral-patterned tile paired with brushed gold fixtures, offering a touch of whimsy and vintage-inspired charm. Another combines moody blue tile, warm wood tones, and a striking arched window to create a serene retreat that feels both dramatic and refined.
Every finish and detail was meticulously chosen by Rachel Henry of Sanctuary Designs, whose ability to balance history with modern livability shines throughout this home. Her layered textures, vibrant patterns, and timeless materials give the entire space a storybook quality—rooted in heritage yet designed for today.

You often hear in the construction world, “They don’t build them like they used to!”. This home was constructed by the original owner circa 1883 that owned a brick yard and it shows. This home as stood the test of time and considering it’s age was in excellent condition. However, it did pose many challenges setting cabinets, running electric & plumbing.
With uneven brick & plaster walls with no studs to secure cabinets to, special care was taken to mount cabinets to walls using concrete anchors, chipping brick to run electric and many more unique challenges.
This project was designed by Rachel Henry of Sanctuary Designs. Rachel worked closely with the client and worked through the overall floor plan, material selections, tile pattern, color palettes & textures that make this space complete.
During the design phase, we worked with Rachel & the client to establish a realistic budget for the project, timeframe, start date and more. Once the designs were completed, selections were made we had all the information to present a formal proposal.
The customer is given access to Buildertrend, a platform where we manage all of our projects, providing the customer with daily updates for completed phases, submit change orders, secured payments & more.
With the designs confirmed, selections made, budget set, time frame arranged & signed project proposal it was time to get started. With all material selections made, ordering was made easy. We ordered all the materials directly to our shop in preparation for the project start date and ensured all items were indeed correct and intact. Just one damaged item could have caused unnecessary lead time.
